Believe it or not, I’ve already completed six months of volunteering, which means I’m halfway through my project. It has been an incredibly interesting and memorable experience so far, and I’m hopeful that the next six months will be just as fulfilling.
At the halfway point of an ESC volunteering project, volunteers participate in a mid-term training session. This training focuses on personal reflection, reviewing our experiences in the ESC project so far, and assessing how well it has met our expectations. We also address potential challenges, work on solutions, and set goals for the remainder of the project. Additionally, there’s an emphasis on planning personal time and considering what we still want to accomplish during our stay in Austria.
The mid-term training took place in Schlierbach, Austria—a small but beautiful town. I had the chance to meet other volunteers from various projects, and we enjoyed our time together. We visited a local cheese factory for a tasting and had a guided tour of the local church, thanks to a kind local woman who shared her knowledge with us.
Training sessions are a great way to meet other volunteers and build connections. The people I met are spread across different parts of Austria, and I’m visiting them, exploring the country, and create podcasts with them. Through these podcasts, we aim to share our experiences with anyone interested in volunteering in the future.
